Want to give a shout out to Exo gear
« on: November 12, 2022, 08:55:01 PM »
I purchased an exo pack a couple years ago and have put it through the ringer. I put half an elk on it this year and did not secure it to the frame properly. Lost a piece on the hike out. Their customer service was great and had it fixed in a matter of days. Not cheap but has been everything I could want in a pack and very reliable customer service! Not sponsored or anything like that just very happy with the product and felt they deserved some kind of recognition

I want to venture out and try something other than exo but I'm afraid I won't find customer service like theirs anywhere else. They hang out on the Facebook groups too answering questions and getting people squared away. They're pretty awesome.

My hunting partner runs a stone glacier and it has been just as capable as the exo but is more simplistic as less pockets etc. that is the only other high end pack I’ve personally had experience with. I’m not sure how their customer service is but that just means he hasn’t had any issues

Which Exo do you have? Been looking at the 4800. Currently use a Kuiu 5500 and it packs great and fairly light- just thinking about giving Exo a try cause all of the great reviews about them

I run the smaller 1800 and added a lid, when I pack more gear than the 1800 bag holds (spike camp)  I found sandwhiching a dry bag in like an elk quarter easier than swapping out for a bigger bag.

1800 is a good day bag size

Both Kifaru & SG have amazing customer service. Never needed EXO customer service,  but I liked the pack before switching to Kifaru.

one sorta complaint I got is the pack is loud when you're going through brush with it on, I've been thinking about a cover to quiet it down and maybe help shed rain

I love my EXO 5500 K2. Best pack I've ever owned. Not to mention supporting an American owned small business that uses American made materials and local labor.

I have the K-3 with the 1800 bag and lid and absolutely love it, helped haul out 2 Elk and my black tail last year so far, zero issues.

I have the K-3 1800 with a lid and also like it a lot, no complaints.  EXO also offers a discount to military and first responders.  My only wish is that the bags were waterproof or repellant so when it rains the bag doesn't get soaked.

Love my K3 4800. Didn't really need that big of a bag but it snugs down tight and is really streamlined. Mainly using it as a day pack but like the fact that I can haul something, or part of something out on the trip back to the truck. Also the side stretch pocket is a perfect spot for a bugle tube.

Great company that stands behind their product! 20% off on Monday, I believe their only sale of the year

Same here, I added a K3 bag to a K2 frame and the buckles didn't match up right.  They sent new ones out no questions asked other than how many of what size I needed.  I always get really quick responses to questions as well.  Top company.

I don’t believe any reputable backpack manufacturers make a waterproof bag. That’s where dry bags really shine.
Also agree that EXO makes a great pack! Only regret is I didn’t pack meat with it this year.

Steve touched on this in a recent podcast. They've looked at other materials but the downsides of the other materials compared to the 500D cordura they use aren't acceptable to him. They also don't really solve the loudness of the fabric either. Exo, SG and Kifaru all use the 500D cordura so there must not be a better fabric out there.

Ya, the fabric is awesome

I might cone up with a cover when I'm dogging a herd of cows , waiting for a bull to come tend them

I've spent a whole afternoon within 10 to 50 yards of 20 cows in heavy brush, the pack is scary sometimes in the brush, but I don't want to drop it
