Morton area help
« on: November 17, 2022, 07:15:19 PM »
Heard from my old man from some old Co workers of his that hunting around the town of morton was pretty hot hunting for blacktail. They would mention how they would knock em dead with pictures and all of some bruiser blacktails. Been doing the late hunt out here for 5 years now and put in the time and effort hiking miles behind gates to clear-cut and such but as far as I can tell the hunting just isn't worth. Very few sign and hardly see any deer in that time. Should I just say the hell with the area and find some other prospects. Curious to others input

You need to spend time there during the summer and early fall looking for does. If you can't find does in the summer. No reason to go there in November. If you aren't seeing fresh sign like used trails or rubs I look elsewhere. I walked a road road system today in vail. I marked it of my list even though it looked awesome the deer weren't using it at all.
