Raffle tag deer question??
« on: November 21, 2022, 06:32:06 PM »
Can a raffle tag holder for mule deer hunt with a rifle in a unit that currently has an archery season going on?

I thought they had to use the weapon for the season and could use rifle after the bow season was over.

This is very interesting….I can’t find the answer anywhere in the pamphlet.   I ask because a buddy and his dad were stalking a deer with the entiat archery tag when a rifle hunter shot the deer they were stalking.   They guy claimed he was a raffle tag winner.  I sure would have thought you couldn’t use a rifle durring a prescribed archery season.

The buck was no raffle tag monster which also surprised me.   :dunno: :dunno:

I think incentive tags must follow any active otc or draw hunt happening but raffles are wide open from 9/1 to 12/31.

I ask my buddy and he said it was non native and the guy said raffle tag.  Maybe he is legit….not much of a buck for a raffle or incentive tag.  It’s a young buck that might go 140ish.

Every buck you have posted is way bigger than this one.

I don’t want to discredit this buck or the hunters choice to kill it…..to each their own.

Pretty sure this is all accurate.

Maybe he just identifies as a raffle tag winner.

I think if I was a poacher, this would be my line, or hang a dream catcher on my mirror, no questions asked.  :chuckle:

I've seen it before.
Was talking to a guy that lived close to a walk in gate I hunt.
Talking about hunting and such.
Subject came up about the early season.
Anyway durring early someone harvested something.
Crows,carcass,at this campsite.

He proceeded to tell me ,he talked to those campers/hunters and that they had shot a doe,and didn't even clean all the meat from the animal and left.
Which I believe cause I seen the carcass myself.
Anyway those guys told him they had a permit or raffle tag.

I told the kid (younger guy) they haven't gave doe permits in our area for three years now.
And it would be crazy if someone used a raffle hunt on some little doe.

Anyway people lie all the time about permits and raffle hunts.
I was up there maybe the day after all this took place.
And the kid didn't know any better.
Nothing I could do,they packed up the next day is what the kid told me and left.

But ya I just assumed somebody got a buck out of that clear cut when I seen the crows. But come to find out from the kid that lives on the last house on the road.
It was someone claiming they had a permit or raffle for a doe.

It's basically a last ditch effort to not get caught, always take a picture of there plate, and go ahead and report.
Let the warden sort out there permits.
