7.3 powerstroke HPOP
« on: November 11, 2022, 07:00:09 AM »
New to the powerstroke world. Had an early IDI for 25 years so I know them in and out. I’m looking to replace the HPOP and there seems to be quite a few options. Should I just do a stock replacement or a little higher performance one? Down the road I might upgrade the injectors. It’s a work truck/snow plow truck so it doesn’t have to be anything crazy but I’m always about a little more power.
Also need the filter restriction sensor that for some reason auto parts stores don’t seem to carry  :dunno:

Truck has 172k on it and far as I’m told is bone stock.

In case you haven't already, I'd suggest spending some time searching on this sight.  Tons of knowledge including HPOP options.

I had 2001 f350.  Stock hpop and injectors will make plenty of more power with an exhaust and tuner.  If ya want crazy power then yes.  BUT you will need to verify if its a forge or cast engine code.  Injectors crazy$$$.  Stock filters are total junk and lift pump is weak so spend $ there.  I did BAF air filter and full 4" exhaust.  I did few typed of tunes.  Edge with gauges was nice but little hot (EGT).  TS 5 position tune on fly was nice too!  Exhaust and off I went.  It was much improved.  Nite day change well worth the $.   Keep in mind 2 types of power mods-1. is performance. 2. is working power.  Hook up a load and find ya cant use this perf. power as its too hot of egt's!  So a tow tune hp # is what ya want.  Better airflow/exhaust, turbo psi is still efficient.   Also remember if stock auto trans it will 100% fail.
MAGA!  Again..
