Fun to read some of your responses. Go ahead and put me in the wimp category. The hardest kicking I've shot was my old man's 7mm rem mag and that wasn't a real bad experience. Biggest I own is a 308.

Biggest fired-45/70 falling block or SW500 which didn't recoil nearly as bad as the SW 360 loaded with full-house .357 158gr mag cartridges.
Biggest owned-I guess my Tikka 300WSM or 12ga with turkey loads.

Owned - 8mm rem magnum in Remington Custom KS < 7 lbs, No break. It’s now a 7mmSTW

Fired - 500 nitro in a double, two different 50 BMGs, both had massive breaks. 460 Weatherby no break.

The 460 was the least comfortable to shoot. I only fired it twice from a standing position. I think it would be rough from a bench.

Most powerful that I’ve owned or fired would probably be my .375 ruger. Gets a little snappy sending 300 grainers near 2700fps starts getting painful after 10 rounds.

My old .45-70 with full house loads and 10 gauge with 3.5” slugs would be runners up, no longer own them though.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Own: .35 Whelen
Fired: Same

I'm a recoil wimp. I watched a guy shoot a .500 Nitro Express at the range and it hurt.

Largest I've shot is a 325 WSM, largest I own is 7mm Rem Mag. I am not into big guns, I like to shoot too much.

I’d have to say the worst recoil I’ve ever felt was from my weatherby pa 459 shooting a 2oz turkey load at 1375fps.   Even hurt my trigger finger 😂

Biggest shoulder fired 90mm Recoilless, 50BMG, M203 40mm grenade launcher
Largest owned .458 Lott, .458 Win Mag, .416 Rigby, .375 H&H Mag.  I prefer to shoot the .458's and .416 off sticks.  The .375 is a soft shooter so I shoot it on the bench as well.

With a name like rigby I would expect you to be a collector of large bores!!!

The 585 577 and 460 wby are all shoulder crackers if not tamed down well. My lott is middle of the road no brake but heavy enough to not beat a guy up to bad.

I love me some small caliber rifles. That I can shoot all day and spend tons of time with. Those are great for 99% of the hunting I do. How ever something about a 500-1000 grain chunk of metal making that huge thud when it hits just makes me smile ear to ear.
