Ok, so if I had to be technical, the biggest shoulder-fired RIFLE I've shot was the 90mm Recoilless Rifle.  I carried that beast for a year when I was a PFC and SPC.  Live firing that thing was a religious experience.  Also the reason I had to retake my hearing test 3 times to pass my physical for Ranger School.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Doesn’t change the diameter of the round for me😂 M320 40MM for shoulder fired.

I guess diameter matter's. :chuckle:
But there's really no recoil on those.....so does it really count. :o

40 Mike Mike rounds are fun but for sure not hard on the shoulder.

I owned a 50bmg for a few years was a lot of fun. Wasn’t bad but on recoil with the huge brake the concussion was the bad part. Also I thought I was going to go blind after shooting a barrett with the dang triangle brake prone. The amount of crap that blew back in my face was astronomical lol. Even with glasses it wasn’t very kind on the eyes.

Bowling ball cannon. Shot old bowling balls 1/2  mile when loaded properly. Made from old oxygen tank, bowling balls bought at thrift shopes for virtually nothing.

That sounds crazy !  Propellant ?  I see the old time cannons that fired 4 and 5" balls and the barrels are a couple inch thick walls.  Oxygen tank ???

All these big guns, but how well do we shoot them away from a bench or a lead sled?

used black powder and the large oxygen tanks from welding sets.  Cut the outlet end off, drill a fuse hole on the other end. My brother made a couple of em, not sure where he got the plans. Fun to shoot and then go retrieve the bowling balls and shoot again.  I think there are plans on line and actually think he use Pyrodex powder. Darn smokey when they go off

Biggest I own,  350 rem mag. Biggest I've shot, .477NE. Let my 115 pound son shoot that .477, he didn't think it was much fun after the second barrel sounded off on him. Learned the back trigger first method real quick!

Indeed.  I did a fun scenario dangerous game shoot in Libby a few years back with a 450 Dakota. Moving cape buffalo targets, run and shoot relays, charging Lions, etc.  The big bore shot well. Never used a lead sled on a bench, and bench shooting is brutal on the shoulder.  I'll take field shooting over Bench shooting anytime!

The 450 Dakota spits out a 500 grain bullet at 2400 fps with recoil about 3x a 30.06.

Also- worst recoil experience I had was when the scope smacked the brim of my baseball hat.  It felt like i had been smacked in the head with an encyclopedia!
