Barrel fluting. anyone use Twistedbarrel.com?
« on: December 14, 2022, 11:25:07 AM »
stumbled into a decent deal on a barrel for a rifle I have been wanting to build for awhile now. it didnt come threaded, or with fluting though.

needing it threaded, and aesthetically preferring a fluted barrel, I'm planning on sending it off to get some work done. Seems like Twistedbarrel.com has a decent turnaround time, and the cost seems right in line with what I would expect.

Has anyone used them before? heard horror stories?
Any more local recommendations? (would love to be able to drop it of in person to someone, eastern washington)

Barrel is a 26" varmint contour stainless criterion, just looking to have 6 straight flutes cut into it and the muzzle threaded. Probably will flute the bolt for the same rifle as well while I'm at it.

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

:yeah: For those that said Kampfeld Customs.  I've been up to Karl's shop numerous times to drop stuff off and he's a really good dude and does great work.  I don't know what his work load is like now but there's been times I dropped bolts off, went up to Schweitzer for a few days, and I'd have a package waiting for me when I got home.  Probably not quite that fast now but Karl doesn't fool around and will have it back to you before you hardly knew it was gone.

Crownridge barrel in colville has awesome turn around and great prices also.  I have used him for threading and other services along with Kampfield. Great people.

I’ve only bought some bolt knobs from Kampfeld, but if I need any other work in the future, I will be hitting him up for sure based on my one interaction with him.

When my 2B arrives will see how the weight feels.......... not sure how flutes will affect a 2B but maybe and slab the action to save 1/2 lb total.
