Looking for recommendations on breeder/trainer west of the Cascades on a "started" Labrador

I understand that "started" is a broad definition

Appreciate the help

I know Selah is East of the Cascades, but it's probably 2.5 hours from your house.

Steve raises excellent Labs.
My lab from him is simply amazing.
He's a member/sponsor here.

He is rainshadow1 on here.

He may have a started lab or two.

I had a finished dog for sale in the fall but he sold pretty fast once I put the word out.

Started dogs are hard to come by but if I was you I'd suggest reaching out to Pat at https://gundogzrescue.org

He runs a non-profit that sells hunting dogs to hunting homes. A lot of these dogs come from an array of homes but Pat essentially takes the working dogs that we love from homes that can't keep them and re-homes them to a working home where they will be a good fit. It's worth a look into. Pat's a great dog guy that's always willing to talk dogs!!!

My cousin might have one or at least know of some if you look up Conway Kennels and give them a call

Another recommendation for Lee at Wind River Labs in Onalaska. We got our lab from her and have been really happy with him. I see her post started dogs on Facebook occasionally.

I'm not sure if you got a started dog yet, but if you haven't, East Harbor Gundogs has a started dog available right now. The stud of the statted dog is an absolute hunting machine. I have a pup from the stud and am getting another pup that was born a few days ago from that same stud (Van).

I have a dog out of Van and Daisy that just turned 3 and she is small in stature at around 45 lbs, but a duck and goose hunting fool. We were looking for a smaller lab though after having a chocolate that was about 90 lbs. Two of my coworkers also have pups from other litters that Van and Daisy had together and they are great dogs. This is the same pairing that just had pups, so I'd highly recommend John and East Harbor Gundogs.

Tim Higgins has a 2 year old started dog for sale. Not going to win any prizes but sounds like a good pet and decent hunting dog. Skoockum Creek Retrievers.

I don’t know if he has any started labs but If I ever decide I have the time and attention to justify having a bird-dog I would definitely be getting it from rainshadow labradors. Those videos he posts on here of the puppies following commands is insane. It would be crazy if he could get one to do all that not to mention the whole litter.

I wasn't able to keep any pups long enough to train them to field trial level, I was kinda looking forward to that, but it's not the right time of my life to do it. I'm WAY too busy! (I'm just setting up my shop to make my own damascus knife steel... lots of serious upgrading.)

I have a litter coming in April, (Milo and Lily) and I'm going to up the puppy conditioning game to include leash training... by ten weeks! They were ready for it. I did it at about 14 weeks last time (the time when I had the 20 seven-week-old pups waiting for me at the open gate) and they were so quick to just do whatever I said as soon as they understood what I wanted (which was also very quick) that it inspired me to move the leash training to the puppy condition stage.

So, this litter is going to get that incorporated into the post ENS therapy training... basically as soon as their eyes and ears are ready.

I'm also going to include fetch conditioning (proper form, wait to be sent, hold to heel and sit, then deliver) into the pre-ten-week-old puppy program for those depositees who are going to want field dogs. I need to try it before I can say it can't be done!
