If you want to truly stay close to your budget I’d suggest going to Redhawk Rifles & buy a demo set of Zeiss Conquest 10-42 HD’s for under $900 & if you willing to go all the way then go get some Swaros & never worry about glass again accept for regular tune ups. :twocents:

I don't think for the money Zeiss Conquest HDs can be beat, but I have not checked out the Maven glass.  I cringe at all the Vortex recommendations, I have 4-5 pieces of their glass and will never make that mistake again. They just don't hold up well and when placed next to even mid grade glass(Zeiss conquest, Meopro) they don't stack up. All of my Vortex is their Razor HD line.

My other recommendation would be to go down to a sportsmans warehouse if you have one near by and take a few pairs outside around dusk. Don’t look at them in the store they all look amazing. Go stand in the parking lot as it’s getting dark and go back and forth between your top 3, that will likely make your decision easier

This  :yeah:

Lots of good advise in this thread, too many people buy their glass without seeing it through low light conditions. What’s the saying? Ask me how I know?  :chuckle:

I went thru the same thing and was set on buying the Swaro EL's  but ended up with a pair of Kowa Genesis 10.5x44 and am super happy with them. They were less than half the price but excellent glass. Cameraland has some good deals from time to time. Talk to Doug from there. He was really helpful.

Funny, when I bought my last pair at Sportsmans, I asked the guy if I could go outside with a few of them.  He let me take 2 of them no problem, didn't even come out with me.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

I don't know if it's possible to beat what Meopta glass gives you for the price. The MeoStar line is known for their phenominal low light capabilities and edge to edge clarity. I have been using the MeoPro HD Plus 8x56 for the last 10 months and couldn't be happier. A huge exit pupil and with a retail price of $799 they are very nice. The 10x42 version comes in under $650. European quality from a company that is known for their top tier glass and why other companies buy their glass for their own optics. Meopta also has an excellent LE/Mil/First Responder program. Reach out to me if you need info. Full disclosure, I do some freelance work with Meoptam but zero sales. I just try to get you guys the info you need from my hands on experiences so you can make an informed decision that is best for your needs.
