Last Day Buck
« on: November 18, 2007, 09:03:28 PM »
Well at a 4:30 tonight a nice young buck bit the dust. My dad and I went down the road and a round a corner where this nice young spike made a mistake, and stood just a little too long.  :chuckle:
After seeing only 3 deer (2 bucks and 1doe) all during the regular season, one doeyesterday, and 4 does earlier in the day we thought it should be time to be seeing a buck. I think this deer wanted us to be work well into dark on him, we saw and shot him with really moments left of day light.
I slid out of truck and got set to shoot him and as soon as I had my rifle up ready to shoot he turns to start leaving and that's when Hunterman shoots, BANG! deer falls down, I walk up to him and just look back at my dad we was right on my heels. He shot him right in center of the back of the head, sorry no pictures of this one it was just too icky.
Hunterman grabs the front leg to move him when the dying kicks started, and he got me right in the ankle, my bad should not have been standing so close to a dead deer. We step back let him do his kicks, we think he's done so my dad grabs the front leg again and he flips out again and damned thing kicks me again in the spot. Now I'm thinking I should shoot you again just for kickin me twice, but instead I just step back and let him finish his little fit then I help my dad drag him out to the truck, bout 30-40 yards.
We get out to the main road to where I have a good single on my cell phone, call the house to have them get the hanging area cleaned up we got a deer.

way to go!!!!!  sounds like it will be a day you and your dad can remember and talk about for a long time.  The memories and storys are some of the best things about hunting.
