Duck retrieving Cat?
« on: December 26, 2022, 01:58:03 PM »
I want to train my cat to retrieve ducks....I know this sounds ridiculous but hes a Savannah cat and loves the water and already plays fetch with toys (still a kitten)....im not 100% its possible to get him used to the gun shots but want to try. Hes just a kitten still but will walk on a leash outside and loves jumping in the tub and trying to go in the lake after ducks. If anyone in Everett area has some duck wings available please respond or message me. Thank you for your help.

Good luck with your endeavor, but I'm not sure taking your cat out duck hunting where it is likely to encounter hunting dogs and eagles is a good idea.  :twocents:  :sry:

Well, hes still a kitten now but already the size of a big domestic cat. When hes full grown a eagle wouldnt even try, hell be the size of a medium sized dog. he also gets along with big dogs as his breeders had them around him. It will take a lot of training and not sure it can happen, but with some help (some duck wings would help with the training) it is possible.

I’ve seen a French bulldog retrieve ducks, a cat would even be cooler. Please update this thread with vids.

I was going to ask if the cat's name is Walter.  Those commercials were pretty comical.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

I have a young cat that retrieves her mouse toy... Waits until the command is given and she runs a warp speed and grabs it then  brings it to me and drops it at my hand as she is running past. Her name is Winda.....meaning Female Hunter. I watched her trail ( by nose) a feral tomcat until she caught up with it.

Use caution. Cats don't shed water like a dog does or trap air. Hypothermia would be a real issue, even early season.

I have a cat. You will fail miserably...but I want to see the videos of you trying.  :chuckle:
