#4 buck loads
« on: December 29, 2022, 11:38:17 AM »
With all this snow I got here I’ve got cabin fever bad so I decided to play with the shotgun and fine tune some loads.
Thought it might be helpful to have a load data thread for coyote shotgun loads
Load I’m working on today is super easy with components a lot of guys probably have on hand
12ga
Win AA hull 2 3/4”
Win 209
33gr longshot
Win wt12-waa12 wad or equivalent (cb0118-12)
23 pellets (1 1/8oz) #4 buck
This is a fast and light load. About 1475fps but recoils like a field load for upland.

Well the results were a lot different than my normal 3” load of 35 pellets and the estate 27 pellet   With those 2 loads IM choke was best.  With this load it looks like extra full was best. Need to adjust site a bit right and I think it’s a winner
Drawn circle is about 5”.  25 yards

I’m working on a new load with nickel plated #F buck.  Mic’s out at .221” for me.
I also picked up nickel plated #4 buck    Hopefully start pattern testing tomorrow with #F

All testing done at 25 yards with 18.5” barrel.  Extra full choke was the best with the #F buck.   Last pic was 12 yards.   Circle is 5” about.
