My First Duck Hunt
« on: December 30, 2022, 07:12:37 PM »
A couple years ago I bought a case of ammo for duck season because I was told, “get this and we’ll go bust them up good.” Well, that invite never came and I sat at home and watched that same person post their hunts on Facebook. Oh well.

About a month ago, a friend of mine said he’d get me out on ducks when the birds are coming. I told him don’t play with my emotions because I was sitting on a case of ammo because someone else told me nearly the same thing two years prior. Well, he totally came though as promised. “Hey, Friday, we’re shooting ducks. What are you doing?”

I drove up to Duvall this morning, met the crew, got into the blind, and a half hour later I had my first duck!

We hunted until about 1pm and called it for the day. It was really cool to see how respond to calling, how they fly in, and how they drop right out the sky! The landowner brought his lab that the majority of the retrieving and that was awesome to watch.

Awesome . Its so much fun if you have the right situation .

I used to love to do it . I just cant compete these days . Crazy how its became , at least in my area.

IMOP waterfowl is one of the best meats if treated right .

Been a while since I have seen ya man.

Glad to hear you had a good first experience out duck hunting. Seems you had a good hunt and got to spend it with good people. Can’t ask for much more. It is addicting. So be careful. Lol

By the way. The gun you refinished for me a few years ago is still holding strong on the ceracoat and was the best decision I could have done for that firearm. Still looks great. Appreciate your work and love seeing you successful in the field and enjoying the outdoors.

Yup...I considered a new purchase after shooting a few with my friend's wife's Benelli. After seeing the price of their nice semiautos I thought back on how I shot half the ducks with my 870 that cost me about $400. I think I'll keep that Benelli money for some waders in the future.

Good job and good patients!  I've been burned by a couple hunting friends once their boys got old enough to show interest in hunting turning little normal things nuclear in their heads between us to justify busting their friendship with me.  Can't be and not mad at the kids and now always get a chuckle at those progressive insurance ads trying not to turn into your parents.  :tung:
Don't read my post if facts hurt your feeling.
