Free: Contests & Raffles.
Thanks everyone. I am going to give it a try again on Friday with a buddy and his son. I checked on the pond yesterday at lunch. The ice is still there but due to the melt is a few inches under water. I’m assuming after the next few days there will be tons of water in it. The geese were in the field again feeding a few hundred yards away from the pond. It’s supposed to be terribly windy and rainy this weekend, supposedly that makes good hunting???
If no birds were flying there wa nothing there for your decoys to try and draw in. Pond has likely been frozen for a while so birds haven’t used it in some time. Look for moving water or even better, spend a day driving around scouting for birds. They will be where they want to be until someone or something moves them off
Just get some decoys and place them on the ice or perhaps the field where they are. You could white out in camo and lay close or in the spread and probably have a good hunt, as long as they don't roost in the field.
