Found this little guy while I was out planting trees yesterday.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Stomped around the central cascades, east side around 3,300’ today. Saw a group of about 50 elk… I only saw four bulls (rags) in the group, and all of them were still packing.
Bad News...The fog is getting thicker...
And Leon's getting laaaaargerrrrrr...

Not too pretty bad...

Found this one in Minot Peak yesterday. was leaning up against a young alder. Like he'd knocked it off by rubbing on it.

Sure is! All I saw was the 2 back tines sticking out of grass, so I freaked when I saw the rest. During summer its usually waist high grass, it spent its time covered and is the darkest one I have so far.

FOUND IT! Walked 4.5 miles, crawled under sticker bushes and found the other side! So stoked. They ended up about 150 yards apart.

I highly doubt those are a set.
Looks a lot like a set to me?

The bases look nothing alike. Regardless what the forks do the bases should look similar. Those don’t.
I know these posts are older but I came across this pic recently. If they were side by side I'd never guess it was a set. A buck a buddy shot a few years ago was like this too. Completely different shape, and even the little bumps around the bases were different.

Has anyone found any fresh brown elk sheds on the west side? Or still too early?

There's sheds on the ground but doesn't hurt to wait awhile yet

There's been quite a few on the Facebook shed hunting page.

Best single day we have had in a few years.  3 deer and one elk.  None are fresh but three are in great shape.
