Mounting Nightforce NX8 on Tikka
« on: January 09, 2023, 07:38:41 PM »
I'm looking for mounting suggestions for my new 6.5 Creedmore Tikka T3X Lite. I am waiting for the Nightforce NX8 4-32 x 50mm to show up later this month. Looking for insight on rail vs 2 piece mounts and ring heights. I do not want any cant if I go with a rail.

I have a Tikka t3 that I sent to Hells Canyon armory to have it turned in to his carbon killer build. This rifle still uses the Tikka action.

I have the NX8 in 4-32x50 with Area 419 20 moa rail and medium Hawkins ultralight rings. I tried the low rings and I couldn’t even slide paper between barrel and scope. You mentioned you didn’t want any cant, but maybe my setup will still help you reach your decision.

I would install a rail and bed the back of it.  Then NF rings.

I typically use NF rail and rings on everything but I used Mountain Tactical's Raptor one piece mount on my Tikka's and I'm very pleased with how they turned out.  They have a 30mm 0 MOA medium height that would work well for you. https://www.mountaintactical.com/shop/raptor-mount-30mm-high-0-moa

Thanks for the replies. I've got to do a bit more reading but I like the looks of the raptor.

I used MDT Precision Rings and Mountain Tactical extended scope rail on my Tikka T3x Lite 300wm.

I mounted a Meopta MeoSport R 50mm bell with a 30mm tube using Warne low mounts on the Tikka T3 rail.
I didn't think it was going to work but I have enough room for a Butler Creek flip-up scope cap on the front.
Worked perfectly and I don't have the added variable of attaching a rail.
