Night calling for bobcats.....how

I think they are a bit on the large size for coastal bobs. I have seen a couple bigger, but most are smaller. Now on the East side I have seen some whoppers.

i'm going to try and make it this weekend to the coast nighttime bobcat day time cougar. i stay in a motel there.it's kinda nice becauce i know the area well. know were the kittie's play. i got this nice tom in nov. going to be trying some new call's and gun's. a 204 thompson ceter prohunter. with 40 gr berger's. i need a break been making alot of call's. By coastal Bobs do you mean peninsula? I'm in the cascade foothills on the west side. Are there different species like elk and deer? Thanks for the education. Good luck Rick.

i hunt by fork's. they say the coastol bob cat's have more of a orange color. there not worth as much too. Rick

Rick is right. The coastal bobs are more orange. The bobs on the eastside have more of a cream color and tend to be a bit bigger. Not sure but, I have been told the fur market calls them "reds" on the westside and the eastside bobs are called "lynx cats" for grading purposes..

Last year I was out hunting deer during the late archery season and called in a bobcat.  I was using a doe call just hoping I could get something to come in and all of a sudden a cat came jogging down the hill.  I shot him with my bow at about 30 yards.  I think it was late in the morning. Having a full body mount done, still waiting for it to get done.

Same thing happened this year while hunting with my wife. She was rifle hunting for deer and I was set up about 20 yards away using a "can" call for deer. After 20 minutes we were going to move on so I started some fawn distress to see what showed up. When we got together she said she saw a bobcat as soon as I started the distress. It had to have been coming to the doe bleats to be that close.
