What about invasive species trapping?

When you get to be known in the area for trapping you get some odd requests from the public.  One of the most common is "can you come over and trap starlings, pigeons or squirrels for me?"  If I charge for such a service, then I'm assuming I need a commercial license so some sort?  With gas still expensive just buzzing around town checking live traps is more than I'm wanting to do just as a favor.

This is starting to sound like a business license with all the insurance that comes with it.  Anyone here go down that road already?

Technically you need a WCO permit which requires a Trapping license.
But, This came up years ago with a mole trapper. You don't need a license to trap unclassified wildlife. You do need a WCO permit to charge for trapping but the penalty for not having a WCO permit is loss of license which you don't need to trap unclassified wildlife. See the loophole?

Interesting, because there's pigeon trapping companies all over. 

I tried to get birds, but they don't let them go to dog trainers due to agreements with their clients

From what I can tell, there's no WCO classes in the near future.  I'll keep my eyes open.

Guessing they still have wco classes in August at the convention.
I had to wait 3 years for one in oly in 2000

Best thing I did was go meet my local wildlife cop  (he still hates being in that poison)some dwfw police are still fighting it

There has not been a WCO class at the Rendezvous for quite a number of years. WDFW does all of those. for those interested, contact specialtrapping@dfw.wa.gov for time and location of their next class.

they have classes every year usually in February

Classes fill in fast and not many seats in each class. Need to get registered for the class soon as it opens unless something has changed
