Floating the Hoh River
« on: February 10, 2023, 05:56:35 PM »
We are heading over to Forks next weekend with the pontoons and planning on fishing the Hoh from Willoughby Creek to the Oxbow or Morgans Crossing to Willoughby Creek. Does anybody know of anything we should be watching out for? I have done both of these floats in the past but it has been a few years. The toughest parts I can remember is the rocky section above the canyon and the Oxbow. Anything else we should be watching out for. Any reports on the river as far as fish? Thanks.

Quick update. We fished on the Sol Duc for an hour or so on Thursday night and my son landed a nice native hen and I lost one. Friday we floated the Hoh from Morgans Crossing to Willoughby Creek and my buddy landed two and lost one. Saturday we floated the Sol Duc from Maxfield to Whitcomb Dimmel and struck out. Both floats were very easy with the pontoons. There is one set of rapids on the Sol Duc tha has a few big boulders in it and a little white water but it was easy to pick our way down thru them.

Sounds like a fun trip, I’ve been contemplating heading out there, , if the ESA listing goes through it’s going to be our last opportunity to fish out there for winter steel.

I used to love fishing the Sol Duc. One of my favorite places & spent many days out there.

Sounds like a couple amazing floats!

Sickens me thinking they may be gone soon.
Good for you getting out and enjoying it while you can!
