The season is from below Bonneville Dam until 4/7 but bank only from Beacon Rock to the dam. You can still fish above I-5. I will be at it come late March and early April. Good luck and tight lines out there!

The Columbia springers are far superior to the Cowlitz fish.

They are better, although not all fall fish are the same.  URBs are good too.  But, an upriver springer or summer chinook is hard to beat.  As 2MANY says, not all springers are equal.

Probably referring to 2 adults. One of which can be a chinook. The other would have to be a steelhead.

I’m hoping to see drano and wind river regs change this year to allow 2 adults. It sucks having large runs and still stuck at one adult.

No better eating salmon than a CR springer.  Period. 

If you have ever had black cod, imagine that in a salmon and then put a layer of fat over the belly meat.  They are slobishly fat fish.  There is usually fat rendered during cooking like when you roast a chicken.

Unfortunately I didn't eat any raw when I used to live down there, really wish I had the chance to experience that.

The "2 adult, one chinook" rule allows all of the rods in the boat to keep fishing instead of having to rack them one once each person has landed a springer.  It is a good rule, while sorta confusing on the surface, that allows maximum effort (rods) from a boat to get everyone their fish for the day.

Summer chinook are fantastic, but they aren't spring quality.  It makes sense, they stop eating when they come in and essentially breed at the same time, so those that come in earlier need to have more fat to survive longer in the river.  May or may not be scientifically correct, but that's what I always thought.
