Wow, so once it hits the floor, it will be passed.  You democrats are Friggon amazing! This will eventually be over turned, it’s clearly unconstitutional. But they know it will take years to over turn. One thing that I’m not sure of, the pre purchase license, will that require a class to take before you can buy any gun? And is Oregon losing all their gun stores because of this law? ( they passed it months ago)

The Bruen decision has already settled this. They can’t ban firearms that are in common use such as the Ar15 and its platform. Garbage legislation and a waste of tax dollars.

They know it. Just trying to impede gun buyers. They know they will get a few years run out of it before court settles it.

I don’t have an AR in my collection. I would like one. If I buy one now, is it just a panic buy? We have all seen that happen over the years.

1. Do I need to buy now? If I don’t, could I be screwed?
2. What brand would you recommend in the $800 and under range.

Thanks!

I would try to buy locally. Or pony up for express shipping. This thing could move through fast at this point and 5+ days of shipping could be a deal breaker.

Springfield Saint, S&W M&P Sport, and Diamondback DB15 are ones I’ve considered buying before but I decided to build instead. All should come in around your price range.

According to Washington gun law you should buy a lower receiver. Mostly because of the paper trail. I believe one of the videos I posted explains why. Also If I were to buy more than 1 I would buy them separate days as videos have shown that purchasing 2 firearms on the same day throws an ATF red flag.  :twocents: It is also how you dont have to take the assault weapons training course or whatever they are calling that online class.

Buying a stripped lower vs a complete AR just gives you the freedom to build it as a pistol or rifle while it is listed as “other” in the paperwork. If you buy a complete AR rifle (or build one with a 16” barrel) and later decide to put say a 10” barrel on it, you’ve converted it to a short barreled rifle that is subject to registration as an NFA item.

BUT if you buy a stripped lower and build it into an AR pistol with a 10” barrel first, you can switch between a 16” barrel and the original 10” without any violation of the NFA. Because it is a pistol per its original configuration.

That’s my understanding, mostly from watching a lot of Bill’s videos.

If you buy any AR “pistol” with a brace, whether you built it or bought the lower, you can use whatever barrel length you want. But if you have a stock and not a brace you have to register it as a SBR if you want to go below 16” overall length on the barrel. Doesn’t matter if you build it or buy it, correct?

Yes. The only perk of buying a stripped lower vs an AR pistol like in your example is the designation on your 4473.
