Looking for your hotspot - Westport
« on: March 16, 2023, 11:04:20 PM »
 ;) :chuckle:  :hello:

I'm planning on going to Westport for the first time in almost 20 years. I used to fish the sunken jetty but would like to be able to try some different spots. I will probably only go out there a few times in the next two years so it would be unlikely that I would burn your spot.  :)

Any coordinates would be appreciated. And, if you have coordinates and want to go along Saturday....  :hello:

Thanks

What would you be fishing for?  Assuming bottom fish since you fished the sunken jetty.  Really can't go wrong typically following another boat out and seeing where they go.  If you have good electronics you can see where other boat are fishing that have AIS on your MFD.

Yes, lings and rockfish. Last year sucked in the islands for Ling and my supply is gone.

Coordinates are tough to come by. The old numbers I have don't really jive with my Garmin. Basically, run north towards Tahoah until you see boats around. Run your electronics till you see any bottom structure or fish. Can be tough. Straight out has scattered schools of yellowtail but they really seem to just roam.

The spots are 30 miles west or 17 miles north. If that’s to far the jetty has very good fishing.

I've been 30 miles out from La Push several times......straight out, sometimes a bit north, sometimes a bit south. Usually a 90 minute run.......once everyone converged on the same place, including party boats out of Westport. Fish only hang out in one spot.
