Anyone casting their own Lingcod and Halibut jigs?

I was playing with idea of cast my own jig heads, for saltwater fishing. I was wondering if someone on here was doing this and what brand mold are you using or recommend.  What size in ounce's do you make? Anyway, just something I was kicking around. Wanted to hear others thought and input.

People have been pouring lead into pinched end copper pipe to make them for a long time. No mold needed. There are a bunch of vids of people making them.

Made a bunch from copper pipe. I'll get some pics for ya. I think they'll do great this year. Ling pipes come out to 14oz and the halis are 40oz.

I don't cast jigs but have been using an old one that I bought decades ago for bottom fishing and have been using out of La Push and it has been very productive on lingcod and halibut.

The photo of the jig is close to what I've been using. ****I don't believe that these are available in the 26 oz. size any longer.

Dimensions:

9 1/2" long

2" wide (at the widest point, in the middle......narrowing on both ends)

1" thick (at the widest point, in the middle.......thinning towards both ends)

Flat on one side......rounded on the other.

10/0 Treble hook

This has been used 30 miles out from La Push (600-700 feet) and has hooked both halibut and lingcod. The bottom must have been sand and gravel because I haven't lost it on rocky bottom structure. I think that it's made of iron and the 26 ounces gets down there and doesn't tangle with 2 lb. leads, if those are also in use by others on the boat. Bottom line: this shape and weight has been productive. Just passing along what I've seen work on the species that you are hunting.

The Do-It molds work great for near shore lingcod tackle. We make our own jig heads from 3/8 oz all the way to 3 oz. Cheap and easy if you have the lead available

Ive done pipe jigs and bullet jigs

Bullet jigs 4 oz 8 oz 10 oz 12 oz 16 oz

Pipe jigs super easy also, i got end caps on mine because it looked cleaner and made the pipes fall straight rather than crimping it.

I just recently starting pouring my own soft plastics too which is also pretty fun.

I use the Do-It mold for the 4 oz and then a custom one off ebay for the 8-16 ounce.

You doing the injection type molds or the pour in's, for your soft plastics.

Pipe jigs were already on the list. Was wanting insight on the jig molds. Seems like a good winter time hobby.

I’m pretty cheap on most things, but I don’t have any interest in playing with lead.  eBay has jigs in nearly every style and weight.  I’d rather use cheap rods and reels and have someone else pour the lead.  Good luck.

Pouring your own fishing stuff is another rabbit hole. I can remember when I got one to pour because ‘that is all I really need’.
Yeah right.

I pour pipe jigs and 24oz bullet head jigs.  I've seen guys make knock off Norwegian jigs out of lead.  Not sure how they worked compared to the real deal Norwegian jigs

Both, I dont like the open pours as the injection is much faster and easier.
