Dispersed turkey camping near Klickitat?
« on: March 13, 2023, 05:23:50 PM »
Hello all

This will be my 2nd year turkey hunting. I was skunked last year but only went out twice. Being stuck on the west side of the state makes it kind of difficult to get out and scout ahead of time. I decided to hunt the Region 5 area around Klickitat or Goldendale I think. Looking at OnX and the WDFW GMU maps im not really sure of what Im seeing. I need to find a place to pitch a tent for a weekend not too far from where Ill be hunting. Only problem is im not sure where Ill be hunting yet so I think Ill just hunt near wherever I can find either a campground or a dispersed camping area somewhere on state or federal land. I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestions for tent sites so I can start looking a little more in depth. Thanks

I think you can camp on any gifford pinchot there its all dispersed camping outside the campgrounds , and as for the state land idk the legalities of camping on it out there but I do know it will have a lot of turkey camps on it and nobody seems to have any trouble . If you have never hunted there before feel free to shoot me a pm , I am by no means a turkey hunting expert but I can maybe point you in the right direction .

here is the DNR state land map. lots of land in that area that will allow dispersed camping in Klick/ Goldendale areas.
