Yelp's last weekend results
« on: May 31, 2009, 06:05:58 PM »
Well I think it was a fantastic season.  I am very satisfied at the hunts I was on and the encounters I had this spring.  I went out this last weekend with the wife and son..we saw a few turkeys but it was very hot outand seem to have affected the birds activities and ours..  We did run into hen tracks with a batch of poult tracks!  We most of all had fun! It was hot out so we ended up fishing..Oh well seemed like a cooler idea anyway! Also a yummy idea..fresh walleye!
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

Was that walleye spot right where you hunted?  I have never fished for walleye from the shore.

Rosshenry..bank fishing for walleyes is common this time of year on Roosevelt when lake is lowered due to snow runoff..lots of beach access.."floating meat" as I call it did the trick.  Roosevelt has got a liberal limit on Walleye. 8 can be under 22 no min's only 1 over 22/per person.  I had walleye nuggets last night..MMMMM    Gotta go get me some more..  :chuckle:

rosscrazyelk and walthenry...you are going to hate me when I tell you "the big secret" to fishing off of the shore on Lake Roosevelt..is a worm and a hook..lol.  I tied up a 2 hook harness like you would use on a worm harness.  I used an egg sinker bead swivel leader with two hook harness.  Thread on nightcrawler.  Use the the worm blower and put a little air in the crawler to float it.  Then cast out and reel them in... :chuckle:  I would lie to say it took a lot of skill but not really.  Pretty easy fishing.  Oh and don't forget some refreshments and lots of nightcrawlers.
