Opening morning did some walking and calling until I found this guy about four miles from where we parked. Called him in for a 20 yard shot.

Great looking bird!  I never realized how cool their feathers are, was a shame to leave all those beautiful feathers.  Might have to do a full mount on my next one.

4/17 @ 5:30 PM in Northern Idaho. Ambushed him in a saddle on his way to roost, about 200 yards from his roost
The mountains are calling and I must go

On the board.  BTW; I didn't shoot out his tail.  He was like that when I found him.  I think his gobble was writing checks his stubby little spurs couldn't cash... :chuckle: :chuckle:
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

First spring bird in my 5th year of trying. Changed strategy on where to hunt and it paid off. Birds were very quiet and we bumped a ton of hens with no toms around. Finally found some toms with vocal hens and was able to bring this guy in by pissing off his girlfriends. Had to hike him out about 4 miles to get to buddies with a camera so he's a little beat up.
