Tree stand recommendations
« on: April 20, 2023, 08:33:30 PM »
Switching to bow for deer this year. I would like to buy a tree stand for deer and bear. Any recommendations, articles or videos that you could point me to would be appreciated. Thanks, 253sg

I really, really like my Summit Titan climbing treestand for hunting whitetails back in the midwest ... but you need a straight tree w/o limbs up to about 25ft of a certain diameter range for it to work.

For trees that are a smaller diameter, or have lots of limbs, or are not straight ... a hang-on stand with some climbing sticks are my next choice.

Let us know what trees you'll be setting up in and whether you'll be on private or public land.

Public land hunting here in OK, ladder stands are very popular. The ladder sections can break down and fit in the bed of a pickup.
I have not tried them, but I see them everywhere.

I got a ricers edge two man stand a year or two ago for taking out my kids and it IMMEDIATELY became my full time stand. I'm not s bug guy ( 5' 10", 190lbs) but having the extra room was a game changer, especially for shooting at anything that's not directly out in front of you. I don't think it was much more expensive and just the same on setup. Highly recommend the larger size I've not had any drawbacks from it yet

Do you plan on being mobile or hunting a specific spot? Ladder and climbers are great for hunting the same spot repeatedly or hunting bait, but they are not very mobile and animals will pattern you fast. Hang on stands (like a Lone Wolf Alpha) or saddles are light and extremely mobile, but you have to carry them in and out each time and hang them every time you hunt.  Figure out your hunting setup/style and go from there!
God made man, Samuel Colt made them equal.
