Sheep/goat partner, similar points

I am looking for a hunting partner to apply as a group for sheep and/or goat special hunt. I currently have 17 points for any goat or ram; 10 points for anterless moose; ewe-6 points. I am a male, and live in Spokane and have done both rifle and traditional archery hunting, but would like a partner to share the experience with. I prefer not to solo backcountry hunt again if possible, especially on a goat or sheep hunt. I have accumulated my current points as a single hunter, but am not sure how it would work if I applied as a group with someone with similar amount of points. I assume the points would be averaged together. Thank you, KC

Be aware that party applications can have lower odds, especially when permit numbers are low. If a party of two is drawn out of the hat and only one permit it available, the party application will be skipped over. Many of the goat hunts have only one permit; these could never be drawn by a party application.

Trying to fill two once in a lifetime tags at the same time is a tall order.

I agree with the others. Not a good idea to do a group application for either mountain goat or bighorn sheep. Your odds are around 1 in 1,000, no sense in reducing your odds even further. This is especially true for mountain goat, with over half of the hunts only having 1 permit. So two people applying for those hunts have zero chance to draw. Your best bet is to apply individually and hope for the best. If you do get drawn post on here that you'd like to have some help and I have no doubt you'd get multiple offers of people willing to help with your hunt.

Not really enough tags or units to apply as a group for goat or sheep. You’re limited to only apply in units with multiple tags. You might get burned by drawing and only 1 permit left even in those units. We just apply as solo then someone gets to go with you for the adventure.

  statistically you will never draw any of them in your lifetime. Apply as a group moves you from slim to none to none.

Draw a sheep or goat tag. Come here to Hunt WA and tell us all that you drew a sheep/goat permit. Don't be a one hit wonder. Keep us posted on your scouting and your preparations for the hunt. Don't ghost out after you ask for advice once you draw. You'll have about 74 people willing to help you within an hour of you posting.
I don't think there are any actual backcountry sheep hunts in Washington this year. There are backcountry goat hunts, but there are also plenty of people who would be more than willing to go with you, myself included.

Solid advice here, it’s amazing how many are willing to help out on these once in a lifetime experiences. I’ve been on both sides of it. I received a lot of help on a premium deer tag and was able to help some others as well. Getting one of those tags will be the hard part after that you’ll know who’s serious once you get to scouting.
