New build time!
« on: April 21, 2023, 09:55:42 PM »
I've been busy with work and life, so I've been out of the shooting scene for a while. I've decided it's time for a new project, so here's what I have in mind. I want a long-range AR pistol chambered in 25 WSSM. It needs to be better than 1 MOA to 1000 yards so I can use it for elk hunting this fall. This is what I think I need:

- Billet 80% lower
- 14" barrel with a 1-7" twist
- muzzle adapter that fits an oil filter from an international T444E
- a solid pistol brace with the right length of pull to give good eye relief
- a strong, reliable foregrip
- at least 3 mags compatible with the WSSM case, 30 rounders would be good, but 20s would work too
- at least 1000 of the BlackJack 131 ACE bullets
- 1000 Fed 215 primers, although CCI 250s might work
- 250-300 pieces of new 25 WSSM brass
- Simmons 6-24x44mm ProTarget scope

I think that's all I need for now. This stuff should all be pretty easy to find, at least it was the last time I did much shooting. Let me know what you all think about this project!

Side note, are BiggerHammer and Jay.sharkbait still banned? I'd love to hear their input on this project if they're still active on here.

You got until jay inslee to sign the assault weapons ban to get all the parts and assemble it. Otherwise you’ll be breaking the stupid law.

I think BH is on lifetime ban haven’t heard from him for years.

Good to see another of your pistol projects.   I wouldn’t use 25 and elk at 1000 in the same sentence but you know that!

Those AR pistols are fun .

Like stated not sure whats gonna be legal anymore!   I can’t buy a 12 round 9mm clip in Oregon.

I suspect WA limited to 10 round too???

Sounds to me like you’re a month late on this thread.

Have to be honest kinda disappointed... I thought for sure youd go with a .22 EARGESPLITTEN LOUDENBOOMER necked up to .243 and call it .243 BiggestHammer..

I have both the 243, and 25 WSSM uppers.  The ONLY thing I don't like about either caliber is the brass; it's very brittle.  I anneal between every sizing,  and only get 3 or 4 firing before the head separates, or the neck splits.  I had a box of factory ammo that 4 case necks split in two different rifles.  (So it's not a chamber spec issue, unless I had two barrels that were both out of spec).  I'm currenty collecting good WSM brass so I can make my own.  If that doesn't work better, I guess I won't shoot them as much.  The 243 is better in my opinion, as the bullet selection is much more extensive.  Antelope don't like either caliber.  I wouldn't try to shoot anything bigger than a deer with them though.  As far as magazines go, a 30 round 556 AR mag holds 8 WSSM shells.  I'd think a 30 rounder would be about 2 feet long.

I forgot about bumbfire braces! I think I need one of those binary trigger things too. A little extra lead down range can help for those times that I can't do my part.  :chuckle:

A .243 bullet for 1000 yard elk? That's just crazy! I don't think you're taking this very seriously....

That's a pretty vanilla with sprinkles suggestion. You've gone soft. Maybe the rumors about you going liberal really are true. I always knew you leaned to the socialist side of things.
