Wenaha Spring Bear Report
« on: June 01, 2009, 08:01:48 AM »
I went camping this weekend and I was pretty excited for my first spring bear hunt. I ended up camping just short of the unit boundry due to the snow. I hiked in every morning and covered a lot of ground over the three days I was there. Short story shorter I didn't kill a bear. I found two piles of poo and a very small amount of other sign. I was using live bait for most of my hunt... following cows and calves around. I was in among the elk the whole time, all cows and calves. I had a jackrabbit call with me in case I got bored and I always managed to call in does with it, once I called in six at one time!! There was still patchy snow but things were looking "springlike" to me. I'm no expert but I guess they weren't exactly out in force yet.

I might have to rearrange our "man date" bro those darn baby fish showed up and Jesse and I have to start working on Friday! Maybe that Sunday? Maybe I'll just give up. Thanks for the encouragement.
Hey LuckyBuck, you do know that I guided Jake into the only bull that he's ever killed don't you?? :chuckle: :chuckle:
