Non motorized White river permit

Is the white river non motorized permit even worth getting? If I get drawn for elk.

I used to get it, but they blocked off the trail I used to access it.  Never saw a elk.

I don't know of where I would be able to get into elk within walking distance of the gates. I would say, only if you have a location that you know holds elk that you know you can access with that permit.

odds are slim that you will get drawn :chuckle: so no worries.  I wouldn't get it because there are plenty of other good places.  I drew it in 16 and found elk pretty much every where we hunted.

Chances are the walk in won’t sell out, I’d wait to see if you draw first.  If you do draw, it’s cheap enough to buy, and I’d do that as soon as you find out.

It didn't last year in September for the muzzy hunt. I did not buy one.

Agree with what most said EXCEPT if you get weather. I did for the rifle hunt in 2019. Snow too deep to get to where we scouted. That Hancock walk in permit saved my hunt. Got my bull damn near four miles from the gate up a mountain. Plenty of elk in there then. Mountain bike will get you in. Something to think about anyway.

Can't we all just get along?
