First turkey down!
« on: May 10, 2023, 12:38:08 PM »
Just wanted to Hop on here real quick to thank you guys for the help and tips. Spent all Monday morning and afternoon walking up and down logging roads looking for sign with no avail. At about 5 PM I found a new spot and started walking. After about 30 minutes of hiking up this road I found a nice knob to call from on ONX HUNT. First call I threw out was instantly responded to by a gobbler that sounded about 100 yards uphill and behind me. The spot I was in was a little tricky to work the bird from so I  snuck around on the backside of the hill to get a better vantage and shooting spot. As I crested the hill I spotted the toms Head out about 70 yards away and I thought he for sure saw me, he was in full strut and slowly worked back down the hill. Once I was out of view I quickly crawled over below a tree that was nearby and set up as fast as I could, I threw out another call and he instantly hammered it. At that point I started to make soft purrs and clucks so I wouldn’t spook him. To every call he would respond and after about two minutes of this he popped up at 35 yards in front of me and I made the shot. What a great ending to a perfect hunt thank you guys so much for the info!

Nice!
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
