« on: May 13, 2023, 07:11:18 AM »
Anybody draw anything? I was selected for a gardiner bison tag November 15-February 15. Really not sure what to expect but looking forward to hunting bison!

Congrats. I don’t know anything about it but looking forward to following along.

Nice, Congrats, that'll be awesome, def gotta update us on the hunt, process, etc.  I'd like to do that hunt someday, be nice get some useful do's and don'ts from your experience.  I didn't draw squat, haven't in the 3 years here, be nice to pull a rifle elk tag in the snowies someday since it's my backyard, only like a 1 in five chance, so not that of bad odds.  But, it's MT, so not drawing ain't no big deal!

I’m excited. It’s not a sheep or goat hunt but I never expected to have the chance to hunt free range bison on public land in my life. I’ll be sure to share the experience here

Nothing for me, but thats OK, a Wyoming goat tag is enough to focus on.

Congrats. Bison hunting is an awesome experience. I've been fortunate enough to draw bison tags in Wyoming and South Dakota and I think you're in for an incredible experience. I struck out for Montana moose, sheep & goat but the Wyoming goat tag that came in the mail yesterday eases the pain.

Sounds like there will be some very unhappy people in the next few days.  Staff entered the wrong number of available tags in a few sheep and moose units resulting in too many people being selected.  A bunch of folks who thought they hit the lottery are going to get bad news soon.

60 sheep hunters will get bad news.  One unit had a quota of 5 and they drew 40.

I’m sure glad I got let down already. Man what a nightmare that would be drawing the tag and then having it pulled right back out of your pocket

Trying to keep up with Idaho ha ha. What is it with sheep tags and draw screw ups? That would be a major let down. Congrats to mburrows on the bison tag. I got to hunt free range bison once it was a blast. My wife thought it was the best game meat and she’s had pretty much everything. She says why don’t u go Buffalo hunting again? I tried to explain it’s not that simple  :chuckle:

My buddy drew one to.

What unit?  Here are the affected ones.

482-20: drew 20 applicants, but the quota was 15. 482-30: drew 40 applicants, but the quota was five. 622-30: drew 20 applicants, but the quota was 10. 680-31: drew 40 applicants, but the quota was 30.

The affected moose licenses are:

270-50: drew three applicants, but the quota was two.  332-00: drew eight applicants, but the quota was six.    341-50: drew three applicants, but the quota was two.
