Old Sitka Blacktail with a new lease on life.
« on: May 14, 2023, 07:35:28 PM »
In the late 70's my little brother's father in law went to Kodiak for a Sitka Blacktail hunt. Unbeknownst to him he shot an absolute cranker of a buck. He capped the skull and in the garage it went. 40 years later his now son in law finds it and gets the story. Michael knew it was an exceptional buck so he asked if he could take it home and clean the dust and cobwebs off. Old Jim forgot all about it until today when Michael brought it back to him...

In 2021 we did our own Sitka hunt and we saved a beautiful cape from a buck JonathanS killed and Michael used it to mount his FIL's buck.

This buck grosses 108" and nets 102" which meets B&C minimum for books. Figured all you Blacktail junkies would enjoy seeing him.

Man! What a dandy buck. Don’t see them that large very often anymore up there.

Great Mount and a great gesture!  Love Sitka blacktails.  One of these days I am going to get up there and get one...
