That's awesome. Are you able to hunt buffalo in Zambia with a 300?

Crappy thing is I just got the updated 2023 price list. Man, trophy fees really jumped. Looks like I’ll be taking one less animal.

Buffalo, Kudo, and Waterbuck will pretty much eat those up now. Still would like an Impala, warthog, and a Puku, but that will add another $2500 now. Free Range in Africa isn’t cheap.
We will be hunting the Luangwa Valley in Zambia for Buffalo and plains game. 10 day hunt starting on the 2nd of June. I’m really hoping to kill a big, old full boss 40+ Buffalo with lots of drop. I have Kudu on quota as well. Other plains game animals such as Waterbuck aren’t under quota, so hopefully we will see some good ones.
Wouldn’t ya know it…. Got this nice Kudu not long after an extremely, extremely too close encounter stalking Cape buffalo in thick coverage. Even with a 416, I felt like the hunted.
Well I hope that's not the end of the story telling?!? Awesome.looking animals. I'm finding a desire to go to Africa growing in me. Looks like the rifle.is doing well. Congrats
Great animals. CongratsThats the problem with Africa... always unfinished business and a need to return...

CongratsThats the problem with Africa... always unfinished business and a need to return...As soon as I get home, Ill start saving for another trip. I still want a BIG Buffalo, but also a warthog (saw a monster, but he never stopped running) and a sable. The concession we ended up hunting isn’t the one we signed up for. Many of Zambias concessions are a mess right now, and tied up in court. Hopefully that gets straightened out sooner than later. But you’re right, Africa, and especially wild Africa, hooks a person.

Looks like the rifle.is doing well. CongratsIf you go, take tough bullets. Most of these animals are easily as tough as our elk. I shot the zebra at about 100 yards perfectly broadside, and the 200gr Accubond didn’t reach the opposite skin. I only made 1 suspect shot, and that was the waterbuck that took a step as I was squeezing the trigger. Hit him about 1ft back of the shoulder, just barely getting the lungs. I wasn’t even sure I had hit him. That bullet passed through, and so did the Puku, which is maybe just a little bigger than our pronghorn. The Buffalo took 3 400gr TSX’s from a 416 Rigby. This is what the Kudu did to my Accubond at 160 yards.
