My enthusiasm was so much higher decades ago.  Maybe I'm getting older, the draws are getting tougher, but my mindset has defiantly changed over the years,  I still hope this year I pull a great tag but with my much lowered expectations the disappointment will be minimal when I see a bunch of unselected.

Only applied in WA this year because I scored some clutch land I can use my deer tag on, otherwise, this state is just about done getting my money. :(

 :yeah:
Just not feeling it this year...the last couple years actually I just don't get my hopes up...low tag numbers...great out of state success... IDK....my permit apps are half of what they used to be. I'm just burned out with getting all excited in Washington.... maybe I'm old and grouchy... maybe its because we got some cool life changing plans in the works....who knows...
If I draw i draw...if I don't meh...who cares .

Can't win if you don't play. I don't really gamble so this is the closest I get to that kind of rush all year. Gonna have a good year hunting whether I draw a special permit or not. And if I do, it'll be that much better.

I've been let down so many times by WA, I don't even get excited about permit apps anymore.  I will be happy if my daughter or wife draw as I truly get more enjoyment at this point of my hunting adventures from helping others be successful.

I won't complain if I draw an OIL tag though.....

Drew my fourth quality deer tag last year, with my second choice and only 8 points again. Almost turned my tag back in but at 60 years old decided to hunt. I had one of the best times I’ve had, hunting with a life long friend and just enjoying the time together in the field.

These hunts are what you make of them. It took me all too many years to learn that it’s about the time in the field with friends/family, not the animal! :twocents:

Good luck to everyone in the draws!

Between my 3 grown sons (26,29,32)and myself, we have drawn 0 OIL tags.

Now that Trophy Deer and Trophy Elk are practically OIL, I'm pretty pessimistic.

Then again quality deer elk need to become just deer and elk now without the quality designation

and whys that? that drawing a bull elk tag isnt quality anymore? Ill beg to differ. Hell hunting mule deer in November with a rifle is a far cry from general season

I have a record low number of applications submitted this year. Only 5 for myself, and 2 for my 17 year old daughter. I did have only 4 applications but last minute I bought and submitted one in the antlerless elk category. I feel like my odds of drawing a moose permit is as good as anything else. 27 points should help a little. Might bring my odds up to 1 in 50? Who knows. Good luck everyone.
I have a good feeling you will draw, good luck!

34 apps in for my wife and myself this year across 6 states. Only thing drawn was the wife in MT deer and elk. Still waiting on a few or it may be a boring year
