Awesome, now tell us the story.

“The story” I went out of Idaho with Bearpaw Outfitters. We would check different baits and cameras in the morning and then I would sit on a bait in from about 4pm to about 9pm. The first two days no joy, we would go where we would see bears on the cameras and they would be on the last bait we were just on. On day three in the afternoon, I had been sitting on the bait for about 2 hours when my daughter texted me, I looked down for a second and when I looked back up there was the bear 40 yards away just staring at me. I froze waiting for him to bury his head in the bait, he did and I shot him and the chase was on. I called my guide Grant who brought his dog in. His dog tracked the bear to the base of a tree and went for the bears throat when Grant caught up to them. The bear couldn’t bite the dog as she had him by the throat but he could wrap his paws around the dog. Grant yelled and they separated where as he shot the bear twice with a .40 cal. pistol. Bear down bear dead, right? Wrong, as he walked up to the bear it got back up and went after him, he put another slug in him and it was finally over. Great time great memories!

The guide (Grant) was great, I went out with Bearpaw outfitters (I highly recommend). The link is a review I wrote on them, I'm going out again 06/12 to 06/16 then a bison hunt in September

Very cool, Congrats on the bear.

Dale and his crew are great folks to hunt with.  Nothing but good things to say about their operations.
