Like the title says Diamond D or Gunfighters inc for a S&W 629? Who has experience? Have you tried both? I was ready to buy the gunfighters, but I sure like the retention on the Diamond D and maybe the protection too. I’m sure they are both quality, just curious about other’s experiences

Tagging as well.

I have a the Gen 1 Kenai for a Ruger Super Redhawk 454 casull and love it.  I hear the the upgrades make it even better.  Retention is not an issue....I can and have ridden motorcycles, quads, horses, ect. and my pistol is not falling out unless I grab and pull.  With all that said, I love leather!!  I am in the market for another chest holster for a Glock and keep looking at the diamond K....just don't know anything about them.

I'm thinking maybe there's more than one company called Diamond D in Alaska. Diamond D Leather and Diamond D outdoors seem to be different. Different websites, different contact emails. This is the one I was looking at

I'm not a cordura / nylon fan.  Leather or kydex would be my pic.  Between the two you show...the gunfighters would be my choice no questions ask.

Thanks for your input on Kydex. I don’t have a Kydex holster and retention is my main concern. I like the idea of grab when needed, no straps to fumble with

You should find someone close that has a gunfighters inc holster and feel their retention.   You will be very surprises.  I wish I could post a video on here....I would take my ruger super redhawk and turn it upside down and shake it vigorously with 100% confidence it isn't falling out.  You won't be disappointed.

I have a smith-Wesson 500 with a scope and just purchased the kenai scoped hunter from gunfighters inc. it is kydex with outer fabric. It holds the revolver very solid and does not move. It is a heavy pistol and the harness distributes the weight very well.

I have a gunfighter for my 6" judge.   You can pull it with one hand, but it's not falling out.   It really seems to lock in there.    I hated to carry that large gun on my hip, the gunfighter chest harness was a game changer.

If you’re looking at Kydex - also check out Hosking Holsters out of Lewiston idaho- I have 3 of Matt’s holsters and retention is definitely not an issue.

Same address with different phone numbers. I have the leather version and love it for backpacking.

Not to jump on the thread - but I do have the above posted Diamond D Denali holster I am looking to get rid of. PM me for any details as to not sidetrack this thread.

I have a Diamond D leather chest holster for my S&W 627 5" and love it.  After a few years of using it, I later added a red dot and cut little slits in the holster on either side to accommodate it. The nice thing about leather is you can get away with doing that compared to a cordura holster.   But it's worked well for me for years and been on many backcountry trips.

Finally got around to ordering the Gunfighters inc. they’re upfront about extended lead times, so hoping by late summer I’ll have it for riding the mountain bike

I have both.  The biggest drawback with kydex for me is how loud it is when you draw and holster the gun.
