Landowner Permission
« on: June 08, 2023, 01:17:14 PM »
Just sharing a success story, as I’ve been learning a lot from folks on this forum regarding obtaining landowner permission.

We have a cabin on a half acre within GMU 627. Most of the land surrounding us is private, including a 44 acre parcel. The 44 acres is owned by a Corporation, and I couldn’t find anything online about the ownership structure. I located the Corporation’s mailing address and sent off a letter asking for permission to hunt as I’ve seen a bunch of blacktail there.

Sure enough, I got a voicemail today from one of the Corporate Officer granting me permission.  He said I’ll be the only one on their property this season and to let him know if I spot any other rigs there.

That is great news.

I got a phone call two years in a row, one year opening morning the next year opening afternoon.  Both times I told him to call in the off season not when he was looking at a deer he wanted to shoot.

I had another guy show up on my cell camera one day, the next day he called asking permission to shed hunt the property I had pics of him on the day before she’d hunting.

It’s good to know some people are doing it the right way and having it work out.

Congrats and happy hunting.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

That’s how you do it👍. Now, follow up with them, if you kill something offer some steaks, jerky etc. someone approved your request, someone needs to be shown appreciation. Good job sir!

Since it’s a corporation you may not get a response from “the person “ but the offer will be noted.👍

And remembered.

Brother was caught on railroad land, when the enforcer say his sack of litter he had picked up he gave him unlimited permission.  Of course that lasted until the guy was out of sight.  Do your home work

And record the voicemail. The recorded voicemail in and of itself is your license to hunt there but a writing would be excellent as well.
