Whitetail took a hard hit with blue tongue summer of 21. Saw hardly any in 21 and a few more last year. Definitely on the mend. I got the tag too @trophyhunt so feel free to pm if you want to chat. We camp up higher in the tucannon but plenty of campgrounds and last resort has rv hookups

thank you, will do! I am hesitant to take our travel trailer up into those hills that time of year, could wake up w a foot of snow. I’ll check out that rv place.
I wouldn't worry too much about snow unless you go up to the top. The tucannon road and the campgrounds along it are basically at the bottom of a big valley around 2 or 2.5k elevation. Between the pops and I, we've had this tag a handful of times each and only remember snow 1 time that actually accumulated down below 3 or 4k.  That's not to say it couldn't happen, though! If the rut hits right and everything gets dumped on, things could get interesting in the N.F. You never know what kind of old haggard horned up donkey monster might emerge from the Mountaintops. Obviously, it is a  pretty massive range of areas to hunt with this tag from the foothills/farmland up into the N.F.. There's some decent camping down lower on the Snake, too. Starbuck/riparia. Just will be a bit more driving involved coming to and from.

There was definitely a snow occurrence that year. Was that the year you got that nice muley? For some reason, it always seems unseasonably warm when we pull that tag. I would gladly welcome frigid Temps and a dumping like that.

That was 2010 when I drew my late permit in the Tucannon. Happened to me in September 2019 too when I drew the muzzleloader Tucannon buck deer permit. Didn’t even go to hunt. Snow, rain, melt etc. ruined any interest I had in a backpack hunt.

Got drawn for the late muzzy tag just curious to see what others have gotten during this season or experiences on deer behavior at that time of year

My advice would be finding 2-4 pieces of land where you can glass a hillside or big draw and try to put a stalk on one. Be willing to be mobile and jump around if you're not finding deer or sign. There's a decent amount of public out there, just gotta find it. Find doe bedding areas and you're likely to run into a good buck. Bucks will be cruising from group to group looking for a hot doe.

Best 162,154,149 permit IMO

Thanks for some of the info
I've hunted the 162 for 16 years. I've had the multi season tag the last 5 years but not this year and had to designate and got lucky on the draw
