Very sad to hear. Nice guy for sure.

George was always great to talk to at conventions and fur sales. He was a wealth of knowledge. I bought many traps from him over the years and he was always great to deal with. He will be missed by many.

What a shock. George was one of a kind and I will sorely miss him and his companionship. Always helpful and fun to talk to and do business with.  He was a great representative for all trappers and for the WSTA.  My condolences to his wife and family.  What a sad day for the trapping fraternity.  Bless him

I understand there is going to be a memorial service on July 21st at 7:00 PM at Memorial Park in Pateros WA.
I'll update if I hear anymore.
Such a shock to hear. I saw George 5 weeks ago and he was the same as always. Had been working on his rental house and talked to me about a hunting trip to Germany. He did so many things for Trappers in general but especially for WA trappers I'm not sure we will ever be able to find a way to equal his good work.
On a personal note he gave me a framed collage of fur tags from his auction purchases at that last meeting. It is hanging in my living room and takes on new significance now.

Great piece - My grandfather used to take me up there to sell the coyotes I shot when I was young - made enough to keep buying ammo to sling at them.  He was always great to deal with and had a few stories.  Haven't seen him in a long, long time.  RIP

George Brady was my first trapping mentor and a great friend.  I had decided to become a trapper after reading some passed around copies of Fur, Fish, Game when I was in Baghdad.  When I got home I found the WSTA website and started calling contact numbers.  George was the first to answer.  He invited me to come visit him in Pateros and had his skinner take me coyote hunting.  When he discovered that I also had my Jagdschein (German hunting license) he invited me to dinner. Brenda made a wonderful German meal and they both treated me as family.  George taught me a lot about trapping and gave me my first lures (including a bottle of mysterious damaged-label otter lure with which I eventually caught about 40 otters). George gave and sold me my first fur handling tools and taught me how to skin and flesh pelts. During this time, we also served together on the board of the Hunters Heritage Council and the Washingtonians for Wildlife Conservation.  I developed an allergy to the long meetings after a few years but George was a stalwart and carried on.  Tight chains, George, thanks for everything!  - Chip

I met George in April 1980 at a Regional Meeting in Ephrata prior to the fish opener. Man, did he give the Game Dept Director Hell for failing to deliver a load of deer fencing. Classic George, stood by his principles. Exceptionally smart guy. Always a pleasure to work with or talk to. Drank a beer or two with him on occasion. Should be lots of great George stories at the celebration. He will truly be missed.

See you there.

George was one of our original crew and really knew how to liven up a WSTA Rendezvous, he will be surely missed. :salute:

Trapper
The smoke curling from the chimney
Was such a beautiful sight
As the Trapper returned to his cabin
With the last rays of the day's light

It had been a few weeks
Since with his Family he'd been
And he was so glad in a few moments
He'd see them again

The Kids raced to the door
As he stepped inside
Followed close behind
By his beautiful Bride

He loved his life
Being at one with the land
But he knew his greatest blessings
Were those now holding his hand

The life of a mountain man
With the objects of his love
So thankful for it all
To the Lord God above...

Great picture. I think George alway considered himself young at heart.
I would call at the beginning of the season for market estimates, to see it it was going to be worth trapping. Then pick on him for being a cheap skate.

He was lucky that he lived life till the end.
George and the rest of  that have passed have done great work for the trapping industry.

I hope we have new blood to fill those Giant shoes.

RIP my friend
