Looking for some volunteers..
« on: June 15, 2023, 08:20:22 PM »
We are a couple of old guys hunting state land in unit 673.
We need some help for archery season.
.
I know the area fairly well, but I just cannot walk like I used to.
.
Willing to share information for able bodies in camp.
.
No guarantee, other than a good place to store your gear, and not just drive around looking for a place to hunt, or camp.
.
Honest opportunity to harvest, depending upon effort..
But, it's up to you.
.
Just want more people in camp than 3 old....
.
Anybody interested in hunting near Naselle, and don't have a spot to camp?

Father In Law's elk camp finally just died out as they all got old and there was not any 'youngun's' interested in joining the group. Pretty much all the old vices (booze, girl mags, cigs, cigars) were gone and replaced by woodworker magazines or the like, talk was mostly old person ailments and last Doc visits.

Just for clarity I may have missed it but what are we talking about I'm assuming elk but don't want to assume.

This year because of time constraints from buying a small business, I am going to be hunting westside archery elk for the first time. I hunted with a buddy a few years ago down that way during muzzy and plan to be back in the general area for some of the season. If all else fails, I can shoot you my number so if you knock one down and need help or just need something in general I can come give you a hand.

Yes, it's elk/deer...
.
No magazines or that kind of nonsense.
.
I have hunted area both Archery and muzzleloader for 16 years...
.
Vandeman17, thanks for the offer!
If you're in the area, lmk.

I hunted with Van (well, I should say I packed meat for him and his dad) last year.  :chuckle:   He’s a beast!  He’ll take care of you.

Thanks Mike. Your help cutting up and packing out that elk saved a lot of wear and tear on my body!

Elk is the only one I have not gone for yet besides raffle hunts. I always get the get outdoors package and have the tag just have never tried for it. I'd be willing to come for a 3 day weekend and exchange a able body for knowledge.

I have had a few interested people private message me.
.
I like that!
.
Pre season prep and scouting is important.
.
.
Even though it's an open invitation..
.
Effort actually means something..
.
I am going to be hunting...
.
That's why I'm asking now..
.
Premeditated plan...
.
I ain't playing, and I'm not joking.
.
I have no guarantee of success.
.
I just know that every year there are people looking,..
.
If you don't scout, burn boot leather, or fuel,..
.
You are welcome in my camp, but I'm going to lie to you

Cool opportunity! I’ve spent a couple archery seasons down there on public and seen some hearty bulls taken.

Did you draw a multi-season or are you just hunting archery this year?

Just Archery, decided I need some meat more than antlers.

I take it you've been getting a good amount of activity from your cameras on that ridge you dropped off of.
