I want to thank everyone for the help and information given, it was all spot on.we headed over Friday morning and we're going to hunt 6 days. At first light we found elk, and saw three herds by noon. It was a very exciting morning, elk all around. we had some opportunities, just wanted a perfect stationary elk under 300 yards and almost had it by noon. My son passed on a few questionable positions and I never thought twice about it at the time.We had lunch, and at 1:00 started a hike up a blocked off old cat road in pursuit of a herd we saw earlier. We were up a little over a mile up the creek from the truck and we decided to cut across the mountain to gain elevation. In a freak accident, I slipped and lost my balance, on almost flat ground, a simple slip we have all had, and tried to catch myself but fell perfectly wrong and ended up rupturing my quadriceps on my left leg, and straining my right. Never felt pain like that, horrible experience, i won't give details.Thank god for my son. He aided me as we headed back to truck, took a few hours. It was tough experience for my son as it was a real PIA to get me out.A very kind hunter and his wife saw us gimping along and offered aid, they were very nice. i was back to the truck essentially so i didn't take them up on aid. They were so kind and tried to get my son on a cow near the truck but I was done, broken essentially. At that time I knew I had a massive injury but didn't know how bad it was.Anyway, we headed back to Yakima, went to urgent care and ultimately came home Saturday morning. I will have surgery this week to reattach my Quad Tendon to the Patella, and months of recovery. It was a fantastic 1 day hunt. I appreciate everyone on here who helped! Life happens, stay safe, and don't take anything for granted!Dave
