I myself would consider a guide, probably never draw a goat permit again.  :twocents:

Congrats on the draw! If you're not in good shape you got lots of work to do before season. That's big country but good numbers of goats. Learn how to sex them as it's very important to kill a billy. Goat country is incredible and always worth the price of admission

Send me a pm with your scouting plans.  I might know a guy who can help in there.

Don't need a guide ... Go look up in the rocks I hear they look white through bino's 😉

Get in shape, it’s pretty rough country.  The goats are not hard to find.  Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance has some good info on Billy vs nanny.  Be patient on pulling the trigger, make sure it is a Billy and really the one you want, they can be hard to judge.  Good luck!!

Lots of goats, can day hunt it but backpacking is the better bet.  Hard part is drawing the tag.

One thing you can do is look at trail reports on hiking sites or Facebook groups. People will usually mention seeing something like a mountain goat.

Wow, first post after joining 11 years ago, that must be a record!

If you haven't hunted goats before, my advice is to spend as much time as you can looking at pictures of billys vs nannies and then field judging them while scouting. There are some online quizzes that you can watch too. Its important to shoot a billy for their population.
