When I was a kid, I used a 6'6" medium action Eagle Claw with an old Mitchel 300 spinner for everything from Perch, Trout, Steel head, to Salmon.

I have the yellow 7' noodle style rods with bait casters.  I'm telling you, they are great trolling rods

Landed a 12lb king on Riffe with it.  Took forever and was a classic fight and chase down.  Best part was netting it with small net and my daughter on the handle
