GMU 218 Muley Buck Rifle Permit
« on: June 29, 2023, 08:17:08 PM »
My hunting partner of many years has a colleague (another of TPD’s finest) who drew this tag. He knows I frequent Hunt WA and hang out with you curmudgeons and asked if I could poke around for some general intel for this MD hunt/unit.  If you don’t mind sharing a bit of info about this permit hunt please let me know and I’ll pass it on. PMs are fine if that’s better….. Thanks, v/RJ

I had the chewuch tag last yr - feel free to shoot me a pm. Rendezvous is a good bet , but there is definitely some better hunting if the weather cooperates- last year the weather was a huge issue! 3’ of snow in a bit over 24 hours - made getting around impossible. Prior to the heavy snow - was able to hike in and see tons of bucks every day

I would say 10-15 a day prior to the heavy snow - hiking in

I've also seen some nice bucks on the back side of fawn peak (its sort of the north east back side of the mountain).

Also, I think "7mmFan" --think that's his name had the tag last year and did a good thread on it. I would check that out!

Have you been scouting at all lately? Another area I would consider is Delancey Ridge. It gets hit in the modern but not many successful hunters because its a steep and tough hunt. But there are some bruisers up there for sure. You could access right from the highway or probably walk in and up from Klipchuck camp ground.
