Luxe Hiking Gear Scam
« on: July 02, 2023, 10:19:00 AM »
Do Not Buy from them, it's a scam! I have been waiting since March for a shelter pole that I purchased to arrive and customer service is unresponsive.  After doing a quick internet search turns out I'm not the only one who has been scammed by this company.  Buyer be Ware!

Sorry hear that, I saw the reviews recently, they've left a lot of people hanging. I had thought about buying from them a year or 2 ago because they were local and reasonably priced, glad I didn't

Yeah its pretty disappointing. I really like the Twinpeak tent that I got from them a couple years ago.  Thankfully it was only the shelter pole that I didn't receive so I'm only out $50 bucks. I feel for the guys who paid for the tents and haven't received them.  I'm trying to take it up with my bank to see if I can get reimbursed. We'll see.

Stumbled across this video. Sounds like this has been going on for a while.

If you used a credit card you may be able to get your money back depending on their rules for how long you can go before you can report a fraudulent charge.

Wonder if he's ever in the shop anymore
I'm up there every other week I'll have to swing in.
I don't want to rep his product if he's doing bad business.

Check out three ridges gear, they are the new US luxe distributor. I bought an octapeak from them last month. Showed up in 2 days and looks great.

That would cost me more in gas than the $50 bucks I'm out

I got an octopeak and stove a few years back. I ordered a center pole that was on b/o for awhile. They sent the wrong size for a smaller tent. Was a blessing as it was heavy and not what I really wanted. I ordered a center pole from Seek and it works perfectly and is much lighter for back country adventures.

Luxe is a complete scam. I have bought and received 2 tents a couple of years ago. The 2nd tent was a struggle but I finally received it. However,  my partner ordered and paid for a stove last August.  Luxe semi communicated with him for a while. Then after Christmas he started asking more questions as to why he hadn't received his stove.  They literally have stopped all communication since. Every month he emails them without a single response.  I told him before he ordered the stove it was a risk that he wouldn't receive it. Unfortunately I was right. This company still advertises on social media. Complete dirtbag company. Zero warranty with zero communication.  I guess when they don't even ship you your product you can't really complain about there pathetic warranty. Totally a scam company

Plenty of people have been taken by him unfortunately. Used to be a sponsor at Rokslide and they dropped him for his shady practices.

I almost always check Reddit for reviews for products because it's such a huge and diverse site. And they hate scammers as much as the next guy and will out them. Google is your friend too, individual site's search functions can suck. Here's how to get it to search a specific website for a query. Bold always remains the same, italics are specific to your search.

Or in this case:

site:reddit.com luxe scam

Thanks for the manufacturer update FM.  I’ve been watching this thread with sad interest. He was an advertising sponsor on my forum for a handful of years and was one of my favorite sponsors. At some point, a few years ago it seems, he broke contact with me.  I don’t know what happened with our NW Luxe dealer but for those interested in the Luxe Outdoor products, they’re pretty damn decent at the price point. Look to a different distributor for future orders, obviously.

they stiffed me on a ground cover/ tent footprint.  its been well over a year. they also lied about the weight of their tents. I called them out on it when I received mine and weighed it.  he updated his website after I called him out.

Did he change his company name to 3 rivers gear company? I just typed luxe tents and that popped up. If anyone has money to waste and throw away go ahead and deal with that dirtbag

No 3 ridge's is another dealer.
Luxe hiking is not luxe outdoors.
Luxe hiking is the scammer. Luxe outdoors has cancelled him.

I rechecked,  correct 3 ridges not 3 rivers. Is this the same guy running a different name? Website is essentially the same.

This new one is in Virginia. There’s a popular hiking area there called 3 ridges so that probably where the name comes from. The subject of this bread is in Forks.

So is the dirt bag the guy in Forks?

I have been waiting on a center pole for over a year from them.  I have tried many ways to get refunded and they are either super creative or just liars.

Any of you Forks boys know where this guy is in Forks?  Would love to stop by and visit.

Haven’t seen that guy where he originally set up shop for I don’t know how long. He was not a local but I believe his wife or girlfriend worked for the park service when he set up shop. Not even sure they are still around 🤷‍♂️

Well I’m only out $40 but I sure hate getting taken.  I got everything I ordered but the center pole.  The tent works pretty good for moto camping.

He seemed pretty legit & a straight shooter when I stopped in his little retail store & talked to him at the start. He told me he was hoping to offer a budget friendly alternative to the hunting crowd even though he’s more of a backcountry hiker himself.🤷‍♂️ Not sure what happened but that’s unfortunate he’s screwing people over.

That's really unfortunate.  I have bought from them a stove jack for my Kodiak canvas tent about three years ago.  Service and delivery of product was great with no delay from ordering online.

Anyone think it would be worth reaching out to the Forks police station about this guy or would it be a waste of time?  Found out he has an Instagram page that he is always posting on -https://www.instagram.com/barefootjake1/
