With the season almost here. Have you been seeing bears? And how many? Are they up high eating or any general area.

Seeing lots of bear sign where they are eating berries. son has one on his trail camera the last few days. Friday his buddy video taped a big bear on the coast and had a big one run across the road in front of him.

I found one for two days of hiking looking for them, the one was about 150 yards uphill from the drainage creek bottom, hanging out in the thick stuff eating berries.
What country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.

I just got back from a motorcycle ride up in the Big Holes and saw a small but pretty one. Cool light brown and cinnamon color. He was at about 6500' walking on a ridge spine headed up canyon. Wasnt feeding, just making his way up the ridge

Observed a fine cinnamon/blond black bear just after the 4th of July. This large boar was at about 6,000 feet elevation (as indicated on my onX maps app). Can't figure out what he was eating up there; perhaps kinnikinnick blossoms or... something else. Regardless, the basin we found him in deserves another look after August 1st.

Enjoy!

The date on the color photo is correct. Picture was at 881ft with lots of cascara and early black berries around.

Date on the momma and cub should say July 13th. 1070ft and I didn't see any food for them(?) I placed that cam with the salt lick in an elk area.

I saw a smaller one this morning on my way to check trail cameras. And also had a bear on trail camera.

Don't have a pic.
But out checking cams, seen a cougar running up the road in front of pickup. As soon as I hit the gas to catch up. It bounced off.

Just to stay on topic here.
Here is a pic of a bear off the cam .
And a grouse that I took a pic of with my cell.

I wanted a pic of that cougar bad.
But it was gone pretty quick.,Everybody in the truck saw that sucker.

Cam just had some dink bucks, and a guy and gal back in June.
And moose for days.

It took three years for someone to find my cam.
It's in a lock box,but glad they left it alone.
