Lots of bears in this state....everyone should whack at least one a year.  We really need an over the counter spring bear hunt, but that will never happen.   :bash:

What country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.

Cherry tree bear.  He’s a little bugger.

Walked out into the meadow looking off to my left, swung my head the other direction and saw this bruiser. Backed up behind a tree and some bushes to get a few pics, then quietly backed out.

That’s a good looking bear, would look better in someone’s freezer though ;)

Of course I haven't seen nada since August 1.
I've been holding off on doing any calling for bears until Sept 1 .
Id be pretty sad if I called in a cougar, then on top of that educate that cougar.

August....spot and stalk
September, call and wait.

My plan probably will be unsuccessful, but that's the plan.

Yes that's a shooter.
I hope that wasn't in August here, cause that would be a great opportunity.👍

Does anyone have intel about elevations they’re seeing bears in the Blues/foothills?

I’m very familiar with the blue mtn foothills from deer hunting it many years, but have only spent time there in spring and fall, never August. I know a couple areas where I’ve seen plenty of bear sign in October, they are in a lower elevation river bottom.

I’m taking the family camping/deer scouting this weekend and hope to get in a little time bear hunting as well.  Anyway - if anyone has been out and has some general suggestions I’d love to hear them.  Otherwise I’ll look for ripe berries and go from there.  Thanks
