Best trail cam for video and audio?
«
on:
August 13, 2023, 10:32:16 PM »
Im looking to buy a trail cam that has video and audio for a spot, no service at this spot so a regular cam will work. Anyone have good recommendations for cams that have audio and video ? I have never bought a cam before looking for these options and I have a spot that I could get some awesome rutting elk video. Seeing if anyone prefers one of the other. Right now Im looking at just buying another tactacam and using it there and not using the cell function.

I don't know about any high end cams, but I can tell you that those $30 stealth cams are a waste of money. It's about 50:50 if they even take any photos.

Probably buying a spypoint 30mp/4K video. Saw some video and reviews looks to take very nice video.

I never used video until I recently bought another camera and accidentally had it set to video not picture. I was impressed with the sound and clarity. I tried to post one here but its too large of a file.

I have Tactacam Reveals and my buddy runs Moultrie.
Next season I’m switching to Moultrie Edge cameras. The photo and video quality is outstanding.

I have a bunch of Moultrie cell cams. The Edge and Delta base. My experience is the Edge gets a better signal, but costs twice as much. Problem with the Edge is that there is no SD card which means that if you have little or no signal the camera will still work but in order to get the pics you have to get the camera to a spot that has a good signal. The Delta base has an SD card so you can easily view your pics even if there is barely a signal. Hope that makes sense.

Have you considered reaching out to predator biologists to see what they use for camera traps? A ton of predator studies are aimed at species like lynx that cant be in hold traps for extended periods of time, I've heard rumors that they use high end camera traps to gather data on animals they cant catch.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.

Like the OP noted, I also need a good solid camera but have no cell service and don't want to pay the mark up on a camera that includes cell. I have a work horse Cuddleback, but it is now 6 years old and is missing shots. Nothing worse than seeing dud pictures with tons of deer tracks in the snow and no pictures of deer...

I have been crazy impressed with my Bog Pod cams video quality and sound. I usually don't do video, but tried it and like it. It will also allow you to take video and take pics at the same time. I have a few video's posted on my youtube acct. if you want to take a look, I can post a link.
